WHDH, station 7, is an independent television channel located in Boston, Massachusetts. WHDH is possessed by Sunbeam Television, also functions within a duopoly using CW affiliate WLVI (channel 56). The 2 channels share studio facilities situated at Bulfinch Place, near Government Center in downtown Boston; WHDH's transmitter is located at Newton, Massachusetts. From 1982 to 1995, WHDH has been Boston's CBS affiliate. On January 2, 1995, WHDH switched to NBC, after CBS transferred to WBZ-TV by virtue of a group-wide association deal with its proprietor, Westinghouse Broadcasting. On January 1, 2017, WHDH dropped NBC into a newly-formed owned-and-operated channel, WBTS-LD; the channel works as a news-intensive separate channel.
