It was Portugal's first station and premiered in 1957 as RTP. For a short period it had been known and promoted since Canal 1 (Channel 1); it's been commonly known as this. It's among the most watched tv programs in the nation. The station became the 24-hour support in 2002, though it now rents its graveyard slot machine (3:56 am to 5:59 am) into the infomercial manufacturer and direct-response marketer, A Loja Em Casa (subsequently owned by El Corte Inglés). Until there, RTP1 shut down together with all the national anthem, yet this practice ceased not too long until infomercials stuffed the gruesome slots. RTP1 has some applications, written mainly of information and talk-shows, sports, current events, nationwide and global fiction, like movies and TV series. Unlike sister station RTP2, RTP1 broadcasts industrial advertisements, which, alongside the permit fee, financing the station.
